Brookmans Park WEA 2018/2019 Courses
Details are now available for the varied programme of courses planned for 2018/2019.
As usual, these will be held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings in the United Reformed Church, Brookmans Park.
Each session will last 2 hours, with a break for coffee.
Please note variable starting times
The fee for each 10 week course is £73.
Autumn Term 2018
Artistic Communities
A welcome return by Rosanna Eckersley who will be considering the artistic communities of St Ives in Cornwall, and Great Bardfield, Essex.
We will be looking at the work of Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, Bernard Leach, Edward Bawden, Eric Ravilious, John Aldridge and Chloe Cheese - as painters, print makers, ceramic and fabric designers and sculptors

Those Wonderful Women Scientists
We welcome back another of our regular tutors, Chris Woolston, who will be looking at the work of around twenty women scientists ranging from antiquity to the present day in the field of sciences including palaeontology, astronomy and X-ray crystallography.

20th Century Music Renaissance
We are pleased to welcome Peter Goodwin
The beginning of the 20th century saw a renaissance of English music, orchestral, choral and chamber
During the course we will be studying composers such as Elgar, Holst and Vaughan Williams and examining some of their work in detail.

Poetry
Michael KIng is one or most popular tutors and during this session will be looking at a wide range of poetry written in Britain since 1945.
Poets to be studied include Philip Larkin, Elizabeth Jennings, Wendy Cope, Carol Ann Duffy and Simon Armitage.
